Country star CARRIE UNDERWOOD is helping residents in her tornado-devastated home state of Oklahoma with a $1 million (£645,000) donation.
The singer, who grew up in Muskogee, was left distraught after twisters swept through the region around Oklahoma City on Monday (20May13), leaving 24 people dead, including nine children.
Now she is aiding the relief effort in a big way by handing over a cheque to the Red Cross.
A statement from Underwood reads, "I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness. With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornados."
Neal Litvack, chief development officer for the Red Cross, adds, "The impact of the tornados in Oklahoma and the Midwest was devastating and the road to recovery will be long for many families. Through the generosity of Carrie, the American Red Cross can quickly respond with shelter, food and comfort now, and with lasting help as they move toward recovery."

LUDACRIS HAS LITTLE INTEREST IN BRITISH CARS AFTER FAST & FURIOUS 6

Rapper and actor CHRIS 'LUDACRIS' BRIDGES fears he will have to break his streak of buying cars from the sets of the FAST & THE FURIOUS movies he appears in because he can't commit to driving British motors.
The star has appeared in three of the fast-paced action films, including the latest sequel Fast & Furious 6, and he has made it a habit to drive off the set in a movie vehicle.
He explains, "I have bought a car from each of the Fast & the Furious movies I've been in... I actually have to buy 'em, but I get a really, really good deal.
"From 2 Fast 2 Furious, there was a Dodge Ram truck that I bought. It had a Louis Vuitton painting. I could drive that for about two days before everyone knew it was me in Atlanta, so I had to change the paint.
"And then, on Fast Five, there was a car that was in (co-star Dwayne Johnson) The Rock's convoy; it was a big truck, a GMC truck, and I bought that one. It looked like a tank."
However, Ludacris isn't sure about purchasing a vehicle from the set of the latest car caper.
He explains, "We shot the whole movie in London (and) I haven't bought a car yet because all the damn cars, the steering wheel's on the other side, so I'm thinking if I bring it here (to America) I might be a little confused and wreck something."
The rapper/actor currently owns six cars, admitting he gave some away to family members and friends because he felt guilty about not being able to drive them all.
He adds, "I travel so much and you have 15 cars sitting in a garage in Atlanta, Georgia and you don't drive them, you gotta start giving them away.
"I have given, like, 10 of my cars away over the past 10 years to family members, good friends... I had a cousin, whose car was about to break down, like, single mother, great woman..., so I went in and helped her out, I gave her one of my cars."

SLAYER star KERRY KING toasted his late bandmate JEFF HANNEMAN by downing shots of booze in his memory at a special service in Los Angeles on Thursday (23May13).
Hundreds of fans flocked to the Hollywood Palladium to celebrate the bassist's life at a public memorial, where guitarist King delivered a speech recalling the good times he shared with his pal.
Hanneman died from alcohol-related liver cirrhosis on 2 May (13), but King insisted on bringing a glass of Jagermeister onstage with him, telling the crowd, "Unlike myself, Jeff Hanneman hated Jagermeister. But I had to come up here with something to cheer my friend."
He then paid tribute to the rocker's legacy, adding, "Jeff was my doorway to punk and it really helped Slayer to become the doorway between the metal kids and the punk kids... All you fans, thanks a lot for showing up. It means a lot. We got a lot of history in this joint. Me and Jeff got banned here for 20 years, so it's kind of ironic."
The late star's wife Kathryn later spoke at the event and a touching slide show was also played.
According to NME.com, there was no sign of the fundamentalist Christian Westboro Baptist Church, whose members had threatened to picket outside.

Singer KELLY ROWLAND has been forced to reschedule her summer (13) tour so she can get to work as the newest judge on America's THE X FACTOR.
The former Destiny's Child member was set to hit the road with R&B star The-Dream for their Lights Out trek on Friday (24May13), but a number of dates have been postponed to allow Rowland to film the TV talent show.
Five scheduled shows will still go ahead, but the first night of the tour in Kansas City, Missouri has been scrapped, as have the duo's stops in Boston, Massachusetts; Jackson, Mississippi; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Cleveland, Ohio; and Cincinnati, Ohio.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, Rowland has promised the axed concerts will be "bigger and better" when they are eventually staged, writing, "To My Dearest Rowland Stones (fans)... Words cannot express how thankful I am to have you guys on my side. Although the tour had to be rescheduled because of X Factor, I'm looking forward to bringing you guys a bigger and better show. I can't wait to see each and every one of you guys on the road. Thank you..."
Rowland began shooting the third season of The X Factor this week (beg20May13) after she and Paulina Rubio were unveiled as the latest additions to the series' panel.
Meanwhile, The-Dream still hopes to make a handful of solo appearances, insisting, "I want to wish my friend Kelly congratulations on her new gig at X Factor. Unfortunately, we have to change some tour dates which has been extremely hard for me and for Kelly. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at a later date. But in support of (my new album) IV Play, I will find the time to come to some of the cities left out to the best of my ability, if only to be in front of the fans that support us."
