Veteran British guitarist TREVOR BOLDER has lost his battle with cancer, aged 62.
The Uriah Heep bassist was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent surgery and rounds of chemotherapy earlier this year (13).
A post on the band's official website has confirmed the sad news, but no further details have been released.
The statement reads, "It is with great sadness that Uriah Heep announce the passing of our friend the amazing Trevor Bolder, who has passed away after his long fight with cancer.
"Trevor was an all-time great, one of the outstanding musicians of his generation, and one of the finest and most influential bass players that Britain ever produced."
Bolder first came to prominence as part of David Bowie's Spiders From Mars band in 1971, appearing on the rock icon's albums Hunky Dory and Aladdin Sane. He joined Uriah Heep in 1976, and only stopped playing with the band a few months ago due to his deteriorating health.

Guitarist MICK TAYLOR rejoined the ROLLING STONES onstage in Los Angeles on Monday night (20May13) as the rockers returned to the Staples Center for their final California show "for a while".
The group kicked off its 50 & Counting tour at the venue earlier this month (May13) and have been up and down the state ever since.
Before heading off to Canada for the next leg of their North American tour, Mick Jagger and his bandmates hit the home of The Los Angeles Lakers and teased fans by suggesting it would be their last California hurrah.
The frontman told devotees the show would be the band's "last gig in California" before adding, "for a while anyway", suggesting the Stones might not be planning to hang up their tour gear just yet.
Taylor, who performed with the group on their five-show 50th anniversary dates last year (12), returned to the stage with his old bandmates to perform a string of hits, including Can't You Hear Me Knocking.

GARY 'U.S.' BONDS STILL SMARTING FROM RACIST PAST IN NATIVE NORFOLK

R&B and rock legend GARY U.S. BONDS still can't believe he was among the first to receive one of Norfolk, Virginia's top honours a decade ago - because locals once chased him out of a posh suburb because he was black.
The Florida-born star, real name Gary Levone Anderson, grew up in Norfolk and recently returned to be inducted into the city's Legends of Music Walk of Fame - but the singer admits it was a bittersweet honour because he still remembers the hostility directed at him when he attempted to move up the social scale there by buying a home in the suburbs.
He recalls, "It was 1963 and they locked me up for hitting an imaginary dog. I had just bought a house in Green Hill Farms, which was a white neighbourhood. My real estate agent, who actually looked white, bought the house for me because they weren't supposed to sell to blacks. I moved in with my family and the neighbourhood didn't like that. So they created this story.
"I'm on my way to the studio one day and, as I turned the corner, a lady kept screaming out in the street, 'Oh, you hit my dog, you hit my dog!' I didn't see a dog and I got out to see and her husband got me at the gate with a shotgun and forced me into the house.
"I was standing in the house with my hands above my head. She called the police and I went to the officer, 'Let me tell you the story,' and he said, 'You should shut up now n**ga! You got nothing to say'. Then he handcuffed me.
"The next day I went to jail. They gave me six months but I think I only did, like, six days because the lawyer was very good friends with the judge and he talked him into it saying, 'This was wrong'. That's when I realised, 'I don't want to live here any longer!'"
And he tells BlogTalkRadio.com that his 2002 Norfolk Legends of Music Walk of Fame brought back some bad memories: "I got a little flak there. (When I was inducted I said), 'You guys are giving me a trophy. The last time I was here the only thing you wanted to give me was time!'"
The honours keep coming for Norfolk's favourite son: "It's amazing how things go around. They want to name a street after me."

ROLLING STONES DOCUMENTARY MAKER GLAD HE DIDN'T HAVE TO REVISIT JAGGER/RICHARDS FEUD

Documentary maker BRETT MORGEN is glad his new ROLLING STONES movie CROSSFIRE HURRICANE did not follow the band past 1981, because he didn't have to revisit the drama of MICK JAGGER and KEITH RICHARDS' fabled feud while the bandmates were still at war over remarks the guitarist had made about his frontman in his memoirs.
The bandmates were still not on speaking terms when Morgen started recording audio for his film because Jagger was still upset about items Richards had chosen to make public in his bestseller, Life - poking fun at the size of the singer's manhood and his womanising ways - and the director didn't fancy raking over old feuds with the two superstars.
He tells WENN, "I knew there would be sensitivities with Mick and Keith dealing with World War Three, as Keith called it - the 1980s. Ending the film in 1981 was a nice way of getting out before we get to that.
"There was definitely tension when we started. When I first spoke to Mick, he hadn't spoken to Keith in some time and during the time I was making the film they got together for the first jam session and things started to thaw.
"But their ongoing rift was something that was discussed outside the context of the interviews I did for the film. I would talk to Mick or Keith about it before we'd start recording. That was quite interesting. I felt like a kind of a go-between... It was a strange position to be in."
But Morgen admits he and Jagger clashed over his decision to end the arc of film in 1981: "The biggest clash came over where the film resolved itself. Mick was extremely concerned that I would be dismissing the past 25 years of what he's been doing, but I wasn't.
"I felt if I was to go beyond that, it would be like, 'And then, and then we did this, and then we did that...' It would be much more disjointed. I had concluded my story."

The members of DEEP PURPLE had to promise to wear hats for an important debut performance in Malaysia at the beginning of the 1980s, because officials in Kuala Lumpur feared the band's long hair would upset concertgoers.
Frontman Ian Gillan tells WENN he and his bandmates went through a year of contractual issues with government bigwigs before the concert could even be scheduled, because the officials feared the band would corrupt the country's youth.
Gillan tells WENN, "They were scared of the English disease, as it was called. They were checking all the lyrics and all the ramifications.
"It was a key gig for us because we were doing a whole series of Eastern dates and this and two others were key dates, without which the rest of the tour wouldn't have happened.
"I will never forget one clause in the contract... The wording went exactly like this: 'The boys in the band shall not allow their hair to fall upon their shoulders'. We agreed that we'd tie it up or wear hats or conceal it.
"We did actually let the hair come down because the Minister of Culture came to the press conference and he said, 'You're not at all what I expected - you can speak!' He said, 'If the hats fall off after three or four songs, it'll be OK', so I called over a camera crew and said, 'Would you mind saying that again because it's in the contract. I want witnesses.'
"Rock music was a big threat back then, so you got rejected from a lot of places. It was mostly the drugs and the loud-mouthed singers that people were afraid of."

LA TOYA JACKSON proved she can take a joke during a skit on U.S. show CHELSEA LATELY on Monday night (20May13) when host CHELSEA HANDLER asked her for plastic surgery advice and mocked her high-pitched voice.
The odd couple teamed up for a spoof American Idol audition and both joked that they wanted a spot on the panel for season 13 of the show.
But when Jackson said, "I would be a great judge on the show... because, like Simon Cowell, I'm very opinionated...", the comedienne cut her off and said, "You don't strike me as being very opinionated at all. With a voice like that, you sound like a chipmunk."
Handler then sang for her sidekick, who clearly found her tuneless offering rather unpleasant, prompting the host to joke, "I would just like to ask you when I get older, where do I get my face?"
Jackson took the jokes in her stride and tried to keep a straight face.
Handler then quipped that she made the audition tape with her pal at the request of Idol producers, who decided not to air it, "I'm assuming because they didn't want to p**s off Mariah Carey.
"I, on the other hand, have no problem p**sing off Mariah Carey: 'Happy Monday, you big, fat f**k!'"

Pop star ADAM LEVINE swore off drugs early on in his career after a strange experience on prescription medication Ambien.
The Maroon 5 frontman and his bandmate James Valentine mistook the sedatives for stimulants and took them while on tour, but instead of giving them a much-needed boost, the drug knocked them out cold - while they were waiting for dinner.
He says, "We had a brief experience one time with what I guess was Ambien. James Valentine and I, we didn't really know what it was... It was the first and last time we took this drug. But we were at Denny's (diner) at some shady part of the city of whatever part of the country we were in, and we took it and we ordered the food... and we woke up at the table, what must have been an hour (later)... I was like, 'Oh no' and James had his head down, so I was like, 'Hey man, hey, we should get out of here'. We didn't eat our food, we sheepishly paid our bills and walked out and everyone's looking (at us) like, 'What's wrong with these guys?'.
"And then since then I've never done drugs."
